If there is someone who has the beauty industry sussed during the recession it’s Marissa Carter of Carter Beauty. Not only has Marissa opened a second beauty salon in Blackrock over the past 12 months she is keeping the clientel coming back by running some very special offers.
I stopped by last week to check out their €15 Full Body Spray tan offer. I thought it was too good to be true when I drove by & saw the offer in the window.
The tan used is Vita Liberata, famed as the fake tan used in The X Factor. It comes in a Light, Medium & Dark. I am quite sallow skinned & I opted for medium which was certainly dark enough, any darker and I’ve have been tangoed!
The results the next day were perfect and the odour wasn’t too strong either. I would definitely recommend it.It seems the offer is here to stay, it was orginally to expire on end of March however a notice on their website says it’s here till the end of August… I know where I’ll be heading for my Summer glow this year.
My only small critisim would be the actual room the tanning takes place which has white walls and they are not really suitable because of the spray back of the tan. Following my blog post Marissa Carter has informed me the room will shortly be re-decorated with some tiles which will certainly fix this issue.

While I was there I also noticed a special offer for what sounds like the most fabulous pamper package.
Spring Pamper Package includes:
- Lavender Aromatherapy Facial
- Mango & Papaya Back Scrub
- Hot Stone Muscle Melt Back Massage
- Firming Lavender & Collagen Body Wrap
- Soothing Indian Head Massage
It would usually set you back a whopping €350 and now until 30/5/2010 is an unbeatable €99!!! It would take approx 2hrs to complete.
Carter Beauty is located at 40 Main St, Blackrock, Co. Dublin. For appointments call, 01 210 3624.
I hoping to book in for the package soon so might see you there
Have you been to Carter Beauty? What was your experience?

Great post, time to treat the lady I reckon
Ha, fancy treating me too…
If you are treating Lee you should treat me too…. LOL!
Hey, thanks for the good feedback. Laughed out loud over the white walls, they were ok at first but are a disaster now we’re doing so many tans!!! Will be getting us some nice navy tiles soon ha ha X
P.S new summer pamper package launching next week
I recently availed of Carter Beauty’s city deal offer for a Mojito manicure and pedicure for €38, normally priced at €99.
I would like to start by saying that the girl who performed it was very nice but the treatment it self left a lot to be desired.
I was just a little over 10 minutes late and was informed that she would need to cut a bit of time off the manicure and spend most of the time on the pedicure, I reluctantly agreed to this after being assured I wasn’t going to be missing out on much but I would have much preferred to reschedule but I got the impression that they really wanted to get as many city deal people in and out as quickly as possible.
My entire treatment consisted of a paint on my nails, all of which was scraped from the bottom of bottles and as a result was fairly lumpy. I have never had a manicure, rushed or not where there wasn’t some cuticle oil or hand cream applied but here there was nothing in this case.
Then my feet were soaking in some very nice smelling bath water and I thought it things were looking up, but it was for a very short time so I didn’t get to enjoy it. I then had some foot scrub applied for a split second and then some foot cream and a file and paint on my toe nails.
To be honest the fact that they normally charge close to E100 for this is a huge shock to me! I have never had a pedicure that was less relaxing or less beneficial. No dead skin taken off my feet, not even scrubbed for very long.
I was then left sitting for the guts of 20 minutes for them to “dry” but of course the second I stepped outside the door the big toe of my left foot smudged as it hadn’t dried properly.
I can hardly say that I feel I got my money’s worth or that I would recommend them to anyone.
I sent them a complaint when I got home but have yet to hear anything back. In short, bad service, bad customer relations, bad attitude and the place needs a serious clean!
