So I have been taking my time writing my ProPoints post because I wanted to get my head around it… I don’t want to give anyone any incorrect information so as a little disclaimer this is my understanding of ProPoints.

I have been allocated 29 Points per day (most ladies in the class were the same) and 49 ProPoints per week.

ProPoints are used for alcohol and treats. They can be spilt evenly over your 7 days or they can be saved for weekends, special occasions etc. You cannot carry over either your daily points or ProPoints. And the best news is that all fruit and most vegetables are zero points, yes that’s nil points!

Points are now calculated based on the amount of Protein, Carbohydrates, Fat & Fibre in foods instead of Calories  & Saturated Fats.

You can calculate them using the wheel in the new programme book or you can do what I would advise and invest in a ProPoints calculator €10.95. It might seem steep but you can use it to track your points too, nice and handy for your bag.

I suppose it makes sense really, I always wondered how a banana could be 1 1/2 old WW points which was the same as a WW Rich Toffee Bar! I know which one I’d choose to spend the points on ;)

There are also no more half points, so the Rich Toffee Bar is now 2 points. Coors Light has gone from 1 1/2 points to 4 and I believe a bottle of wine has gone from 8-10 points to 18-20 ProPoints!

Weight Watchers Ireland are running an offer, if you pre pay with Smart Save for 10 weeks, you get 12 weeks plus a ProPoints calculator for free. This is what I did as I hope 12 more weeks could get me close to goal!

So my first few days on the programme were a bit daunting, everything looked so different and complicated but I have to say I think I’m getting there.

I am tracking like crazy, carrying my book & calculator everywhere with me. I am also starting to feel better & more back to myself so I have been out walking too.

My friend Lynda introduced me to these Special K, Mini Breaks, they are a great snack for 3 ProPoints and Tesco currently have them on offer 3 for 2 so I stocked up.

    That is brilliant Mary. Well done. Im two pounds away from losing a stone but its been so slow, Ive only been losing half a pound most weeks but Im still delighted. :)

    well done sue! I’m going to weightwatchers for my weekly weigh in but also following the ‘operation transformation’ plan for the next 7 weeks just to get more disciplined, you should check out the exercise plan, its really good and has great recipe options xxx

    Joined Weight Watchers today for about the 100th time – I’m the best quitter ever btw – Leader is called Mike (Kilbarrack meeting)- absolute scream but by far the best leader I’ve ever met.

    @Norma I believe if people are struggling to loose weight with 29 ProPoints per day they are recommended to drop to 26 to give themselves a quick start – I hope this helps :) xxx

    Hi all

    Joined weightwatcher AGAIN. Going to make it work this time for the last time.
    Have long way to go. Half a pound a week will do me but more would be a great bonus. Need to loose 7 stone at least.

    Cud do it in a year if I bothered. Just need to stop exercising my arm so much. Bending it towards my mouth is causing a lot of bother around my middle and hips

    I joined weight watcher a month ago and have lost 6 and a half pounds. It is very hard and ive struggled with my weight most of my life, so here’s to a new me fingers crossed it will work this time. I need to loose 4 stone:(

    Rose well done for joining and that is a great weight loss for only one month! I joined 8months again and I am going at a slow pace but I’m delighted to have stuff at it… Keep tracking and you will see results .. Best of luck :)

    Hi Ladies, I am new to Mwah.ie and have started up AGAIN at weight watchers. I have a lot to lose (5 stone!) but I am determined it will happen!!! At week 1 week in I was down 1.5lbs and devastated!! I expected about 5lbs so now I am going for it this week. I am going out for dinner tonight and automatically feel under pressure!!

    Hi Rachel, Go you on making the move to start back into a healthy weight loss regime! I was getting dis-heartened when my weight loss was a 1lb one week, then going up a pound another week as i want greater progress. However, i decided if i lose a pound a week, that would be brilliant and try focus on losing a half a stone at a time. Remember, its more about the journey than the destination point, so don’t be killing yourself and try learn to have fun with it and remember, be kind to yourself. Good Luck xxx

    @Susan Your leader should tell you but I believe if you aren’t having the results you want, maybe try 26 per day for awhile and see if it makes a difference, obviously keeping you 49 Weekly Propoints too. xx

    My saviors are twister icecreams for 2 propoints, Curly Wurly for 3 propoints and Snack a jack salt and vinegar for 2 also. Craquottes are also two for a propoint and are lovely with a sliced banana
